Shopify SEO that fixes the platform, not just the pages.

Shopify has its own quirks: Liquid templating, duplicate collection URLs, app bloat and rigid page structures. We work in the theme to solve them, then optimise your collections, products and content to rank and sell.

How much does Shopify SEO cost in Australia?

3P Digital delivers Shopify SEO as part of its SEO service, which starts from $800 a month, about half the typical agency floor, month to month with no lock-in. Because Shopify uses Liquid templating, rigid URLs and app-driven markup, the work happens in the theme layer: canonical and duplicate-content fixes, Core Web Vitals, product schema, and collection and product page optimisation. It is run as one strategy with reporting tied to leads and revenue rather than rankings.

Why our Shopify SEO is different

Specialists who know the platform's quirks.

Generic SEO tactics often stall on Shopify. We work within its constraints and use the theme to scale the work across your whole catalogue.

We work in the theme, not around it

Shopify uses Liquid, rigid URL patterns and app-driven markup. We edit the theme layer directly to roll fixes across thousands of products at once, rather than hand-editing pages one at a time.

Collections and products done properly

Your collection pages target your highest-value category terms. We optimise titles, on-page content and internal links without pushing products below the fold.

Speed that survives the app stack

Apps and drag-and-drop sections quietly add JavaScript and CSS. We trim app bloat, tidy Liquid rendering and lift Core Web Vitals, especially on mobile.

The Shopify SEO challenges we solve

The issues that hold Shopify stores back.

Most of these come from how Shopify is built. Each one is fixable in the theme and in your content.

Duplicate content from collection paths

Shopify can serve the same product on more than one URL (/products/item and /collections/x/products/item), splitting ranking signals.

  • Correct canonical tags via Liquid
  • Consolidate link equity to primary URLs
  • Internal links point to canonical versions
  • Clean pagination handling

Theme bloat and Core Web Vitals

Unused scripts from multiple apps and heavy themes drag down LCP and INP, and mobile feels it first.

  • Remove unused JavaScript and CSS
  • Optimise Liquid rendering
  • Lazy load below-the-fold media
  • Audit and prune app overhead

Schema and merchant listings

Rich results (ratings, price, availability) lift click-through, but only when the markup is correct and complete.

  • JSON-LD product schema via Liquid
  • Review and rating aggregation
  • Availability and pricing data
  • Breadcrumb and collection markup

Content that captures buyers

Product pages alone rarely win category and comparison searches. The blog and collections need to do real work.

  • Best-of and comparison articles
  • Buying guides that link to products
  • Topic clusters around your range
  • Collection descriptions that rank

What's included

We report against leads and revenue, not just rankings.

Shopify SEO Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on theme changes, migrations, timelines and cost.

In most cases, yes. Many of the highest-impact fixes (canonical tags, schema, meta data at scale and Core Web Vitals) live in the theme code (Liquid) or in Shopify admin settings, so your visible design stays the same. Some speed work, like removing unused apps or optimising images, can have minor visual effects. We always talk through any change before we make it.

Shopify uses Liquid templating rather than PHP, has URL structures you cannot fully customise, and can create duplicate product URLs through collection paths. Plugins like Yoast do not apply. The work happens in the theme layer and in Shopify settings, so it pays to have someone who knows those specific constraints and how to work within them.

Yes. For migrations (including headless builds on Hydrogen) we map redirects, preserve URL structures where we can, move metadata across and watch rankings closely after launch. That usually means a pre-launch audit, a staging review, 301 redirects and a period of post-migration monitoring.

Technical SEO (Core Web Vitals, crawlability, indexation, canonical tags), duplicate-content analysis, schema review, collection and product page opportunities, internal linking, app overhead and theme efficiency, plus a competitive gap analysis. You get a prioritised action plan with the likely impact of each item.

Technical fixes such as speed and indexation can show within a few weeks. On-page and content work generally takes a couple of months to land in the rankings, and competitive terms can take longer again. SEO compounds, so the work keeps paying off well after it is done.
